Korean Eye 2012 Opens at the Saatchi Gallery

Korean Eye: 2012 officially launched at the Saatchi Gallery on Wednesday, July 25th to an international audience of VIP guests, exhibition sponsors and members of London’s artistic community. An opening reception was held to celebrate the opening, along with a traditional Korean ribbon cutting ceremony with the founders of Korean Eye and their distinguished guests, including Mr. Jeremy Browne MP - Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Dr. Tim Miller - Director, Property, Research & Assurance and Chairman, Standard Chartered Korea, Dr. Han Seung-soo ­ Former Prime Mister of Korea & Independent Non-Executive Director of Standard Chartered Bank, Richard Hill - CEO of Standard Chartered First Bank Korea Ltd, Mr. Charm Lee ­ CEO of Korea Tourism Organization, David and Serenella Ciclitira, co-founders of Korean Eye and Nigel Hurst, CEO of the Saatchi Gallery.

 

As well as viewing the exhibition, which took up the entire 70,000 Sq. Ft. of the Saatchi Gallery, guests enjoyed a traditional Korean drum performance by Dulsori and speeches from David Ciclitira, Richard Hill, Nigel Hurst, Charm Lee and Dr. Han. Korean Eye: 2012 is sponsored by lead partner, Standard Chartered Bank Korea, and will run from 25 July to 23 September at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

Korean Eye: Energy and Matter Comes to Abu Dhabi

Acclaimed exhibition “Korean Eye: Energy and Matter” officially launched on March 18th at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi. A reception was held in celebration of the show and was attended by many honourable guests including His Excellency, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kwon Tae-kyun, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United Arab Emirates, Richard Hill, President and CEO, Standard Chartered Korea, Jonathan Morris, CEO of Standard Chartered United Arab Emirates, David and Serenella Cicilitira, co-founders of Korean Eye, Nigel Hurst, CEO of the Saatchi Gallery in London and Henning Fries, Regional Vice President, United Arab Emirates and General Manager, Fairmont Bab Al Bahr.

Invited guests were treated to a musical performance by Ms. Park Kyoung Eun on the Korean traditional instrument, the haeguem, before touring the exhibition’s artworks. Participating Korean Eye artists, Kwon Kisoo and Professor Kim Jonak, also attended giving guests the rare opportunity to mingle and discuss the works in person.

“Korean Eye: Energy and Matter” is sponsored by lead partner, Standard Chartered Bank Korea, and will take place from 18 March to 25 April at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi.

Korean Eye: Energy and Matter Exhibition Opens in New York

November 1st marked the opening of the highly anticipated exhibition, Korean Eye: Energy and Matter at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in New York. On the morning of the 1st, guests of the media were invited to preview the exhibition over a delightful breakfast where each one received a copy of the book, "Korean Eye: Korean Contemporary Art".

In the evening a special reception was hosted by Standard Chartered and was attended by honorable guests including David and Serenella Ciclitira, Co-founders of Korean Eye, Dr. Lee Eun Jae, Korean Eye Goodwill Ambassador, Richard Hill, Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered First Bank Korea, Dr. Han Seung Soo and Mark Minton, President of The Korea Society. Invited guests had the opportunity to view the artworks and even speak to some of the artists and curators who were there to mingle with the crowd. A magical performance by traditional Korean music artists rounded off a most memorable night of art and culture in the city.

The opening was attended by Congresswoman Na Kyung Won, Mr. Chung Byung Gug, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and many of those involved in putting the exhibition together including Nigel Hurst, curator and Chief Executive of Saatchi Gallery London, Tim Miller, Chairman of Standard Chartered First Bank Korea, Richard Hill, Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered First Bank Korea, Dr. Lee Eun Jae, Korean Eye Goodwill Ambassador, and David and Serenella Ciclitira, Co-founders of Korean Eye. Official partners AMOREPACIFIC and Korean Air were also in attendance on the day to show their continued support. The exhibition received great interest from the media, increasing awareness of the Korean Eye initiative on both a local and international scale.
