Kang is an artist most highly-acclaimed for his hyper-realistic depictions of famous people such as Vincent van Gogh, Andy Warhol and Audrey Hepburn. His hyper realistic method allows for details like hair and wrinkles that cannot be captured through photograph; thus, Kang’s paintings are more real than what can be captured through the photograph. Kang blows a breath of life into the canvas through such detailed portrayal.
Hyungkoo Kang received his BFA in Chung-ang University. he has held numerous solo exhibitions including a solo show in Sigapore National Museum in 2011, Arario Gallery Beijing in 2010. Kang has also been in many group exhibitions, including Seoul Museum of Art, Arario Gallery Cheonan.

강형구는 빈센트 반고흐, 앤디 워홀, 오드리 햅번 등 유명인들의 초상을 극 사실적으로 표현하는데 있어 가장 높이 평가를 받고 있는 작가이다. 그의 극사실적인 기법은 사진으로는 나타낼 수 없는, 머리카락이나 주름과 같은 섬세함이 필요한 표현을 가능케 한다. 이는 사진이 나타낼 수 있는 것들보다 더 사실적이다. 강형구는 이러한 세밀한 묘사를 통해 캔버스에 생명을 부여한다.
강형구 작가는 중앙대학교 예술대학을 졸업하였다. 그는2011년 싱가폴 국립 미술관, 2010년 아라리오 갤러리 베이징 등 다수의 개인전을 가졌다. 또한 그는 서울 시립미술관, 아라리오 갤러리 천안 등 여러 단체전에 참여하였다.
