A piece of paper and pen are the first materials that one encounters
when learning how to draw. The image that is created with these tools is
related to what “Kim Inbai” thinks about art. He believes that art, like music,
has its own rhythm and he entrusts his work to follow this flow. The image that
the artist expresses is either missing important features or emphasizing a
certain part. An animal with 6 legs or human faces with no eyes, nose or lips
are examples of this. These works correlate to the artist’s personal interests
in humans, plants and animals but the basis for this is the flow or rhythm that
he feels through the omitting and emphasizing of certain elements. By removing
features that should be there and accentuating elements that usually go unnoticed;
the artist creates dynamics in a single work which as a result has movement and
rhythm, the most important elements that allow the viewer to get closer to Kim
Inbai’s works.
그림을 배울 때 가장 먼저 접하는 재료인 종이와 연필, 그리고 이를 통해 생성하는 이미지는 '김인배'라는 작가가 생각하는 예술과 관계가 있다. 그는 단독적인 예술작품, 특히 미술도 음악처럼 리듬이 있다고 생각하고, 그 흐름에 자신의 작품을 맡긴다. 작가가 표현하는 이미지는 중요한 요소가 과감히 생략되어 있거나 아니면 특정부분이 강조되어 있는데 다리가 6개 달린 동물이나 눈, 코, 입이 생략되고 그 흔적만이 남아있는 사람의 얼굴이 그러하다. 이러한 모습은 인체나 식물, 동물에 대한 작가의 개인적 관심에서도 연유하지만 그 근본은 생략과 강조를 통한 흐름 혹은 리듬이다. 있어야 할 것이 생략되고, 사소하게 인식되었던 부분이 확대되면서 하나의 이미지에서 강약이 생성되고 이로써 발생하는 운동감과 리듬은 김인배의 작품에 가까이 가기 위한 중요한 요소이다.
