Bahk Seonghi uses everyday
objects like that of a chair, table, book, & glasses and recreates them
with a distorted point of view. His works that have lost their original colour
and texture preserve an element of truth through its form. However, depending
on the angle at which you are looking, the object can look distorted at one
angle and normal from another. This throws a question to the viewer that is used
to looking at objects in a one point perspective. An object that looks solid
undermines our stereotypes of the truth by using the faltering perspective of
the viewer.
박선기는 의자, 탁자, 책, 안경 같은 일상생활의 사물들을 뒤틀린 시점으로 재현한다. 사물 본래의 색채, 질감을 상실한 그의 단색 정물조각은 형태에 있어 사실성을 보존하고 있는 듯 보인다. 그러나 어느 각도에서 보느냐에 따라 형태가 뒤틀리기도 정상적으로 보이기도 함으로써 1점 시점에서 사물을 바라보는데 익숙한 시각에 의문점을 던진다. 이로써 매우 견고한 듯 보이는 정물은 시점의 흔들림을 통해 실재에 대한 우리의 선입견을 전복시킨다.
